This version fixes some minor bugs. There are no new features.
• The Macs used by programmers sometime use a System Extension called EBBE (Even better bus error) or a replacement called LOBE (less obnoxious bus error). Those extensions used to crash Sword Dream on what they thought was a bug (but it wasn't).
Sword Dream 1.6.2 uses a slightly different startup code, so EBBE and LOBE stay put.
This change should also make Sword Dream stable on the newest Power Macs, which sometimes crashed when launching 1.6.1.
• A bug fix which appeared in Sword Dream 1.6.1 introduced a new bug! In 1.6.1 only the first character in a group ever eats. This is fixed in v1.6.1.
• A couple of new spells (introduced in v1.6) were mishandled by the code which is invoked when characters re-learn spells. For example, when a third level wizard who has memorized the Galvani's Spark spell goes to sleep, SD 1.6.1 will let him lean one first-level and one second-level spell. Dream thinks that Galvani's Spark is first level.
Version 1.6.2 corrects the bug.
We hope that this version will be the last release of the Dream 1.x engine. We plan to release a final scenario for Dream 1.6, as soon as possible: after that we'll work only on the upcoming Dream II.
